A few things worth knowing
What is one electricity unit?
One unit is one kilowatt-hour (kWh). A 1,000W appliance used for one hour uses one unit. We multiply each appliance’s watts by its quantity and daily hours, divide by 1,000, then add the results and multiply by your billing days.
What hours should I enter for a fridge or AC?
The example power values are editable and not manufacturer specifications. Fridges cycle, and inverter AC power changes with conditions. Use equivalent full-power hours, or measured kWh divided by appliance kW. Running rated power for 24 hours can overestimate use.
Will the cost match my electricity bill?
No. The optional rate estimates only units multiplied by one entered energy price. It excludes tariff slabs, taxes, fuel adjustments, fixed charges and export credits. Compare the estimated units with your meter and actual bills.
Are my appliance details sent to anyone?
The calculation runs in your browser. Your appliance list is not sent to Sunlight. The WhatsApp link prepares an energy-summary message for you to review and send; it does not send a message automatically. Choosing the solar calculator passes only the estimated units and billing days in the link.
