Build a complete equipment list
Record the router, optical network terminal, computer, monitors and other essential devices. A laptop may have its own battery, while network equipment may not. Include expected working hours and explain whether short interruptions are acceptable or whether the workload requires a more specialised continuity solution.
Discuss the limits of backup
Solar and battery equipment do not guarantee that an external internet provider will remain available. Ask the installer which circuits the proposed system will support and how switching behaviour may affect equipment. For sensitive work, discuss device-level requirements with the relevant equipment provider as well.
Include the full chain that keeps work online
A home office may need a router, fibre terminal, laptop charger and an external display rather than just the router. Record the label ratings and measure normal use where possible. Remember that home backup cannot guarantee that an upstream internet provider remains available. Discuss transfer behaviour and the equipment tolerance with the supplier if a brief interruption would disrupt calls or unsaved work.
