Commissioning is the stage where the installation is checked and prepared for its intended operation. Customers do not need to perform the technical work, but they should understand what information and demonstration will be provided.
Ask what will be verified
The installer should explain the commissioning scope relevant to the system and applicable requirements. Any settings, monitoring and backup functions included in the project need to be addressed. Ask how outstanding issues will be recorded and resolved.
Make handover part of completion
Request the final equipment information, operating instructions and support contact. Have the team demonstrate the user-facing display and the intended functions where appropriate. Commissioning should lead to a clear handover rather than leaving the owner to interpret unfamiliar equipment alone.
Request a customer explanation after technical checks
Commissioning and customer handover serve related but different purposes. The installation team undertakes the required checks; the owner needs a clear explanation of operating modes, monitoring and support. Ask for the available commissioning record and a demonstration relevant to the agreed scope. Confirm the outstanding-items list before closing the handover discussion, especially if monitoring access or documents remain to be supplied.
Your practical checklist
- Confirm the commissioning scope
- Record outstanding items and responsibilities
- Request a user demonstration and final documents
Does seeing the inverter turn on prove the whole installation is complete?
No. Ask for the agreed checks, records and explanation of the finished operating scope.
